This site has no accounts, no signup, and no payments. It never asks for your name, your email address, or anything else about you, so it never holds them. The one thing it does collect is anonymous traffic analytics. Everything below is the detail behind those two sentences.

What we collect

Nothing you type. There is no account system, no newsletter signup, no contact form and no payment processing anywhere on this site. What we receive instead is ordinary web traffic data, described below.

Analytics

Every page here loads Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-GFS8VB2GT4. It records which pages you visit, roughly which part of the world you are in, which site or search sent you, and what browser and device you used. Google processes this for us. In Analytics 4 your IP address is used to work out that approximate location and is then discarded rather than stored.

We use it for one thing: seeing which pages people actually read, so we know what to write next. We do not sell it and we do not use it to build a profile of you. Google describes its own handling at policies.google.com.

Cookies and browser storage

Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<id>. They hold a random identifier so that a second visit is not counted as a new person. They expire after two years, and clearing your browser's cookies removes them.

If you save tickers to the watchlist on a ticker page, that list is stored in your browser's local storage under the key savedTickers. It never leaves your device and it never reaches our server. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes it.

There are no advertising cookies, because there is no advertising.

What the server keeps

The server holds visiting IP addresses in memory for a few minutes so it can rate limit abusive traffic. That list is never written to disk, is cleared whenever the server restarts, and each address is dropped as soon as its rate limit window passes. No access log containing your IP address is kept anywhere.

The databases behind this site hold company financial data taken from SEC filings. None of them holds anything about visitors.

Other companies involved in serving you a page

Three, and only because a page has to reach you somehow. Each of them sees your IP address and browser in the course of answering the request, exactly as our own server does.

  • Railway hosts the site and handles the connection your browser opens.
  • Google Analytics, described above.
  • jsDelivr, a public code CDN, serves one JavaScript library on the home page, screener, ticker pages, articles index and methodology page.

Your choices

Everything collected here can be stopped from your own browser, without asking us:

  • Analytics: install Google's opt-out browser add-on, block the analytics domain, or use a browser that blocks trackers by default. Any of these stops the collection before it starts.
  • Watchlist: clear this site's stored data in your browser.

If you are in the EU or the UK, the GDPR gives you rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability over personal data held about you. In practice the analytics data is held by Google and is reachable through Google's own controls linked above, and the rate limiting data is gone within minutes and is not tied to anything that would let us find you again. This site does not yet publish a contact address for privacy requests. One will be published on this page before it introduces accounts or paid plans.

Do Not Track

A browser sending a Do Not Track header does not change what Google Analytics collects, because no agreed standard for honouring that header ever arrived. Blocking the analytics script, as described above, does work.

Children

This site is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If what this site does with data changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. Adding accounts or paid plans would be a substantial change, and this page will say so plainly when it happens.
